Torsion Flex Motor Mounts with Grommets

The motor brackets are meant for 5 5/8" direct drive furnace motors, however, usually they will squeeze down to a slightly smaller size but are generally meant for changing to a generic motor when replacing an O.E.M motor. These are belly band mounts which mean they mount around the motor it self. The Torsion Flex mount is especially useful on Lennox type motors and in fact is the mount Lennox supplies with a replacement motor rather than manufacturing motors with welded brackets on the motor itself.

Example # 1: Lennox and a couple of others, uses several motors with welded brackets attached to their motor itself.
This means you have to buy the motor from a dealer of their product only.

Example # 2: You want to install a more powerful motor such as our 1,625 R.P.M. motor to increase your air flow to areas of your home that have poor air flow. However, your present bracket won't allow for it.

Before ordering any motor or bracket be sure to check the name plate on your present motor for the following.

  • Horsepower rating: While it is alright and probably more desirable to go another size bigger, you may need to adjust the blower speed taps to a lower speed to keep the temperature rise/drop through the furnace and air conditioning coil within manufacturers recommendations ( see the plate in your furnace ).

  • R.P.M. ( Revolutions Per Minute ). Keep this the same as what is called for by the furnace manufacturer ( unless the present motor has been changed and is too small ), unless you are PURPOSELY trying to achieve more air flow as with a 1,625 R.P.M. motor. Bear in mind that some manufacturers such as Lennox use 825 R.P.M. motors. Using a 1,075 or 1,625 R.P.M motor in this case, will lead to more noise and probably burning out the new motor unless you also oversize the new motor horsepower. Even doing this will probably result in more noise however from the increase in air flow.

  • Check the diameter of the motor and the shaft size of your present motor.

  • Will your present bracket fit the new motor or will you need a new bracket.

  • Rotation: All our motors are electrically reversible by reversing (2) leads.
