The main difference between these two controls is that the 50A55-843 is a Universal control made for replacements in Silicon Carbide Hot Surface Ignition systems which are found in most of Trane's lower end model furnaces. Most others manufacturers use this system in their lower end units.

The 50A65-843 is a Universal control made for replacements in Silicone Nitride Hot Surface Ignition systems which are found in Trane's higher end furnace models.

The photo below is what White Rodgers USED to supply for replacements, however they are NOW including a plastic cover over the control board, so it will appear to be a different part visually. If the plastic cover is removed it will look similar to the photo directly below.
